BSCPI was founded in April 2005 to promote the concept of “fun science” among children …and among those who remain as children despite their chronological age.

The Club was founded as a response to an apparent decline in interest in basic science among the youth in the Philippines . Some of the club activities are documented here:

The first Batang Sayantist Summer Camp was held in May 2005 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary College-Paranaque. Dr. Eric Punzalan, BSCPI Founder found encouragement in Sr. Guia Moreno , IHMC principal then, and organized the First BSCPI Science Camp. He was ably assisted by Alex Tardaguila, Jennifer Sy, Dennis Tuyogon, Lely Quan and Patrick Nua.

The club objective is to develop activities and programs that are fun by kids’ standards and at the same time educational and enriching.

"I think we can convince these kids that science is a fun thing to do and play with. We'll convince them that science is not one of those scary subjects taken just to get over with.", says Doc Eric

"Our programs are an attempt to complement classroom instructions. Our lesson plans are exploratory and experiential….contrasting the traditional school experience."

BSCPI is registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-profit, non-stock corporation.
